Forums - Gaming - Which game has been , is the biggest technical achievement this gen.

1) GTA IV: While other games were cutting edge in terms of graphics (MGS4). How Rockstar packed all they info on a DVD is beyond me. The expansive city that is Liberty City was amazing a beautiful in detail. For someone that lives in NYC that made this game great. Game play was great and for some (me included) it became addictive. I think this game is an achievement in itself. Companies are still trying to replicate it with newer games being released. Huge environment. Largest game so far this gen in terms of game play. Has anyone reached 100%? Hell, when my 360 comes back from repair I will be hitting this to get as close to 100% as possibly.

2) MSG4: second on my list wasn't first because it had a few things against it. Such as non destructible environments. Almost every game this gen so far had this would it have been that much of a big deal for Kojima and co. to add this? Also the controls were a little stiff (could have been the PS3 controller.) Graphically the game is the best this gen so far. If Konami could fix a few of the frame rate issues (not that GTA IV didn't have any) This game would have rated higher, IMO.

Now Playing: Crysis 2

Last Finished: BulletStorm

Online IDs: PSN: computermaximus, XBL: computermaximus

mgs4. Nothing like the octocamo and having all the camo's in 90% of cutscenes as well

How does that even begin to be a technical achievement?

I've never seen anything like it before---thats how

...Do tell me what the Octocamo does that makes it that impressive, by all means

I find the ability to change to the color of any surface in the game pretty damn cool. Mgs3's camo system was a pain in the neck.

@GamingGen Motion control isn't this gen it's been around much longer than the Wii.

Would some one mind explaining how Wii-Fit or Wii-Sports is a technical achievement on any level ?

...Man you might want to go back and play Alien vs. Predator 2, that is not exactly new technology.

I liked MGS3's camo system. Pretty grounded in reality - and it worked, too, if MGO was to be believed.

Yeah, destructible environments in mgs4 would've been pretty cool. Kz2 seems to be managing this with graphics that look superior to mgs4 but then again KZ2's dev cost could surpass shenmue and eclipse even GTA4 lol.

Like I said, I don't know what you've played before but it was a first for me and this is an opinion thread. Alien vs predator 2...wasn't that even a PC game?

True. Motion Control has been around in different forms since the 70's. But this is a major leap for home console videogaming.

@Gaming .

I agree in that repect it could be considered an achievement.

Yeah, from like 1998.

Alright, let's chow down folks.

The cake is a lie.

All kidding aside, that's quite an accomplishment.  The one on the right should be called a TWiinkie.
