Forums - Gaming - Most powerfull next gen console?

I am not talking about the current generation.I am talking about the next gen which will be released next decade.This gen it was the PS3 which had the most powerfull system but so far it is trailing the other two in sales.Nintendo have said that their next console will be an HD gaming unit.But the pattern of sales during the last couple of gens have shown that not the most powerfull console always wins the gen.We saw it last gen when XBOX was more powerfull than PS2 but it lost but considering the fact that the Xbox was the first console from Microsoft and didn't have any brand name before it.This gen we have all seen Sony struggle and the least powerfull console from Nintendo has won so far but the time will only tell who is the winner is this gen.

Here the question comes that will the big three go for the most powerfull or the most inovative console next gen?

Also which will be the most powerfull?

Meh, just stop reading at this point, tired of fanboys.

The most powerful console will be the one that doesn't come in first place, if history is to be trusted.

PS3, Xbox, N64, Neo Geo, Sega Master System.........

I would say all of them would be sustaining consoles(Just advancing controls, graphics), and none of them will be too innovative in respective to the Wii. Nintendo will probably create a console that allows for at least ports from the other consoles next gen. As for determining which would be the most powerful. I'm afraid it is impossible to tell at this moment and all you would be doing is picking 1 random choice out of 3 options.

Yep stopped reading here to. There is no proof of this. Dont speal off Cell figures either. It's the entire system as a whole that eminates the final production. And if you believe the statement you made, then why is the 360 having no trouble keeping with it, and currently (of games that are available to buy) have the most impressive technical and visual game?

Anyways as Zucas article pointed out and history as well, Power and graphics does not equal success. The quality of the games do.

Could it be argued that N64 was not more powerful than PSOne?

I reckon Sony. I believe that Wii 2 = 360, next xbox to be only around twice as powerful as 360 and ps4 to be an evolution of ps3putting on par or ahead (depending on viewpoint of cell).

@perpride

Doubt it could be argued, but still there're a lot of speculations since it's hard to compare devices, which are very different in architecture. But my subjective opinion goes with N64, it has some of the best looking games of 5th gen (CBFD for example).

 Lol. N64 = 2 PSOnes

Madden 2001, guess the system:

Anyways, I think the largest jump in performance will go to Nintendo being that they will probably move closer to the "Gamecube" strategy in terms of hardware and look for the best perfomance for the price.

I think Sony will try very hard to produce something different because the losses of the PS3 and the ecconomic downturn have hit them pretty hard, and they probably won't have a ton of R&D money and won't be able to afford massive losses in the next generation.

Microsoft will (most likely) try to merge the Wii with the XBox 360, and will produce a high performance system with a more advanced Wiimote which is heavily focused on shooter games.
