Forums - PC - what's the cheapest (and best card) I can get for 1280x1024

the LCD monitor I am using atm only has a max res of 1280x1024. I'm getting parts sometime in January, and do not plan to get a new monitor anytime soon. So what card would be best for my LCD monitor, and perhaps be able to retain its effectiveness (meaning that it will still be able to run games reall well) if I were to upgrade to a 20"monitor?

Around the Network

ati hd 4670 or ati 4850
4670 is cheaper and should do fine
but the 4850 is more powerful.

9800 GT, a powerful card that should run games at that res on pretty high settings - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130380

9600 GT, nice mid-range card that can run games at that res on med-high settings - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133239

4830, also can run games on med-high settings - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131129

Above I'm a proud Gran Turismo fan, not a Sony fanboy, and now a proud 360 owner, but sharing xbox live accts ATM

End of 2009 Predictions (made Jan 1, 2009): My predictions were pretty accurate, the 360 was over and the Wii was just under.

Wii: 65 mil (yea I'm crazy) 360: 35 mil (its getting there) PS3: 30 mil (the slim better do well)

End of 2010 Predictions (made Jan 7, 2010):

Wii: 81 mil  360: 47 mil PS3: 45 mil

A 4830 beats the 9800GT at pretty much every game at every resolution.
