Like white on rice!  Er, no, I mean I would present valid arguments why decreased battery life ranks somewhere around seven buckets full of poo (and yes, I think the DSi is isn't worth it for the same reason plus others but both of those are another thread).

The best thing is that M$ usually waits to announce the really big games until well into the year.

I'll never understand this mentality.

Games like Banjo and Fable were announced over two years before release.  Many big games for next year have already been announced as well, like Halo 3: Recon and Ninja Blade.

You may get an announcement of a sequel to a game that has already been released on the 360 well into the year (if by "well" you mean before March), but that's it (like Gears 2 this past year, and probably Mass Effect 2 next year, similar to Sony announcing Resistance 2 and MotorStorm 2 near the beginning of this year).

Halo 3: Recon was announced at TGS last month, and that won't be coming to next fall.  A full year before launch. But that's "well into the year" right?

I hate people who have the mentality that MS doesn't do the same thing that Sony does.  H3: Recon announced a year earlier than coming out is not "waiting" to announce anything.  People expecting many new unannounced games to be announced and launched between Jan 1, 2009 and Dec 31, 2009 are going to be sorely disappointed when the only games that do that are "You're in the movies 2" and "Lips 2" cause that's what was announced between those times this year, IIRC.

Actually, Banjo N&B, Fable 2, and Gears 2 had no media or info about them until this year. Banjo wasn't announced till May and Gears 2 till March. Halo 3:Recon is an expansion pack. Bungie, Rare, Lionhead, and Gearbox all have projects in the works we will probably not hear about until next year.

has anyone heard any news on APB, does it have a 2009 release date?

No.  Banjo was announced at X06, and Fable 2 was announced in 2006 also.  Gears 2 was announced at GDC, so that's correct.   >_>

Edit:

An expansion doesn't count?

LOL.  Those trailers just confirmed what everyone knew.  There was no info in there.  That Banjo trailer had nothing about vehicles in there.  Those are just what we call teaser trailers.

But lest we forget, the biggest game this year was announced only 8 months ago.

This is correct.  The original Banjo trailer was shown at X06, and the first Fable II trailer was shown even earlier at E306.
