Forums - Gaming - What artists have music games gotten you into that you weren't into before?

With games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero being uber popular the last several years, I'm sure there are other people like me who have "discovered" one or more bands that were never on your radar before.  Whether you heard of them before and they just never clicked or you never heard a single note by them before playing their song in a game, what artists have you "discovered"?

For me, it was Boston.  Of course I had heard "More Than A Feeling" before, but that was about all I could name that was written by Boston.  Their debut album came out in 1976, the same year I was born.  I didn't have any strong feelings one way or another about the band until I played that song and several others from their debut album in Rock Band.  Now I LOVE Boston and consider them 1 of my top 5 favorite bands.  Peace of Mind, Something About You, Foreplay/Long Time, Hitch a Ride......where have you been my whole life?

I find it extremely hard to believe that I'm the only 1 who has had their eyes opened to a new artist because of playing a music game.

The New Pornographers. I had always kind of been on the fence about their music, but The Electric Version from Rock Band kind of pushed me over the top. Its a catchy little indie tune, the kind I usually adore. I went out and bought all their albums and have been happy ever since.

I saw there was an Interpol song on Rock Band 2, hopefully that will open some people eyes to the kick-assedness of their music.

Bethesda's Todd Howard "if install base really mattered, we'd all make board games, because there are a lot of tables."

Rage Against the Machine. I had heard a lot of their song when they were new and I was in elementary school, but I wasn't into them back then. Ever since Bulls on Parade was in GHIII, I have liked them a lot more. And Ozzy Osbourne. I didn't know anything about him until I played the original Guitar Hero. Bark at the moon was the final song, and I remember having such a hard time beating it. Fortunately, the song never got on my nerves, because I had to attempt it about 20 times before I actually got past it. These were in the days when I was still playing on Medium. I like this thread, so I want it to succeed. I don't know what I can do to help that dillema though.

The games haven't opened my mind to too many artists, but they have opened my mind a lot more to classic rock in general. I felt ashamed that I hadn't heard 70% of the songs in GHIII. Now I feel more "classicaly educated".

honestly... not much. it made me listen to the Red Hot Chili Peppers a little more than I used to, but the games didn't get me into them since I already liked some of their music.
i like a song here and there, but that is most of the time the band's best song, or one of their best songs, and I don't like the other stuff from them.
Another honorable mention should be the Killers. I like a few of their songs.
