Forums - Gaming - EGM September Issue Review Scores- Lair and Blue Dragon Disappoint

Not to question you ckmlb, cause I trust your info, but where are you getting access to this info? I have been unable to find the EGM reviews OR the game informer review of Lair online. Maybe I am just not looking hard enough.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Wow, one of them gave NCAA 08 a 9? It's definately an improvement over 07, but it still isn't that great. The fact that you can't skip through the numerous short cinemats is enough to give it a lower ranking (and the slow mo ones at the end of the game are infuriating), it's fairly buggy (sometimes games just won't even show up on my schedule), and the usual terrible menus I'm surprised this game got about an 8.5 from anyone (I personally give it about an 8.0-8.3--somewhere in that range, still a good score).

I agree that ign will give them high scores those guys are real geenrous when it comes to hyped PS3 games. Especially Jeremy he is a ps3 fanatic. No matter what bad thing you tell him about the ps3 he will always find a answer to why it ain't a bad thing.

I believe that EGM is a generally bad magazine, but there reviews are usually no more biased than any one else.  In fact they are some of the tougher reviewers.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Blue dragon was given fantastic scores by the Japanese, nonetheless I'm surprised that a western reviewer finds it so unsuitable for this audience. When i played the demo i ignored the story as i cant get it from a two-hour demo. The combat was excellent but if the story turns out to be lacking this will leave my 'must-by' list. But as bad as this is for 360, Blue Dragon isn't pegged as a Western system-seller, Lair under performing would be very bad for the PS3 though, it's meant to be one of the consoles four key games this year along with HS, Uncharted and Rachet

Um, I have NO WORDS

LAIR is a game I have been looking forward to since launch..

For me GAMESPOT & IGN reviews will be important factor.

Supporter of

 SONY & Nintendo

Consoles owned - SNES, N64, PS, GC, PS2, PSP, PS3

 I DO NOT support Xbox

My prediction for YEARS END:

WII - 18.3 Million

Xbox 360 - 15 Million

Playstation 3 - 8.5 Million

Lets just wait for other reviews before saying both these games suck or what not. I am especially shocked by Blue Dragon, considering the Japanese reviewed it pretty generously.

Don't fret, Lair is average! AVERAG-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Average is pretty good!!!!

hehehe, but didnt another reviewer give lair a 9/10?

Play Magazine, but I have far less respect for them than any other publication in the game industry.  PSM has more fair and balanced reviews and editorials than Play Magazine.

Play magazine gave Sonic for PS3   9/10 it is really not a good source for reviews.

I thought this review of Lair was fake can be true but everyone who posted this news didn't had a source or any link + the review of this game is in a Magazine who is not released yet :s.

I'm not surprised ... Lair was hyped based entirely on how it looked, not because of how it played or because it had an interesting gameplay mechanic. Beyond that, Factor 5 has been on the decline for awhile now and has not done anything fanstastic since the Gamecube launch.
