Forums - Microsoft - Gears 2 just lost almost all the hype it had going for me...

I beat the game and loved every moment of it. It was a blast...but now that you mention it...yea, those levels sucked and I think the only reason they were any fun at all was that I was playing coop with my girlfriend. That box carrying part was so hard to control but I thought it was just because of my girlfriend. Also, I never realised how bad the AI was until you mentioned it and then I noticed that your correct. I remember many many times the smaller enemies walking into walls and getting stuck and me just going up and hitting them. Now that I've beaten it and the hype has died down I realise that most of the sections that they threw in to change up the pase just really weren't that fun. However, the core Gears gameplay was amazing and you'll probably forget all the bad stuff because of it until it comes up. At least I did. This is still my favorite 360 game right now and a top 5 contender for my favorite games this generation as of now.

I expected a thread from you about the ending of this game. Anyway I loved the worm part. And Carmine :(...I liked him.

By the way, I played on hardcore coop and my girlfriend and I chainsawed each and every siren with no problems. It was really easy, but maybe that's because there was two of us? Idk, but I thought those guys were going to be really cool and was let down too. Maybe it was because of parts like this that the game kind of lost my attention near the end? Idk. Anyways, like I said, it's still an awesome fun game. I don't think this game was made increadibly, but its an increadible game if you get what I'm saying. With the premise, the core game play, the characters, the gore, they just couldn't go wrong with me even though they didn't do the best job, it was a great experiance.

Two more brothers in the Carmine family.  A. Carmine and B. Carmine...do you think that means there are TWO more games??

Ok, haha, just kidding.

Poor Carmine... ;_;

I was so upset when he first fell into the worms mouth and then was so relieved when I got the chance to rescue him.  And then of course sad again when I actually found him.

I wear my helmet so I don't have to worry about gas!

Does he remind anyone else of Caboose from Red vs Blue?

I've already played through the game once on Normal and going through it now on Insane Co-op. I'm not the super Gears player by any means but even Normal seemed kinda easy to me. I probably only got downed 4-5 times the whole game and had to restart maybe 2-3 times. Insane is definitely a lot harder so I think Hardcore would be a good medium. I read some reports from reviewers that were asked to play through the game on Hardcore for their reviews. I guess that it probably the preferred difficulty for most adept gamers.

Please please don't take this the wrong way but my GF started playing Gears 2 as well and never played the first. She watched me play it a little bit and thought it looked fun. She doesn't play many Shooters (I think Halo & Bioshock are the only ones she ever was interested in) and even she commented how easy Casual was. I know the impressions won't change a whole lot on level design but the enemies are a cakewalk on that difficulty. If you want to just plow through it I guess it would be ok but a higher difficulty would go a long ways I think.

I read the rest of the post but didn't feel like replying in pieces but I'll just say I enjoyed the way the levels were mixed up. The variety and scale was probably the thing I liked the most about the game.

Gears 3 will have the 3rd Carmine brother...Christopher Carmine appear and get KIA'ed similar to the first 2.

The following sequel will be released as: Gears 4: Saving Private Carmine in which Delta Squad pushes deep into Locust territory to save the last remaining Carmine brother.  Marcus will perish saving Carmine only to take down the final Brumak with his mighty burst pistol

^^'' Hehe so I am not the only one who liked Carmine =p.  In fact he was starting to become my favourite.  I am not really a fan of the other characters way to macho dumb fuckers especially Cole Train bah always hated guys like him in real life.

Anyway did you guys find the toast easter egg?  Their are not many people on my friendlist who found it.

Taking the box to the door takes like 2 minutes, and you only have to kill like 5 things.

The razor hail was no big deal for me. I did hesitate before running into it, but I would allow Dom to lead the way and that worked.

I enjoyed the worm level. And once again, it took like 10 minutes to beat.

The only complaint I had with the game's campaign is the centaur driving. The controls are god awful.

I enjoyed the Sires level. Added some interesting elements to the story. Will admit that Sires are easy to kill.

I do not have a problem with the AI. The obviously dumber creatures will run straight at you while the others will use cover. The little creatures do get stuck behind things sometimes though. Especially tickers. The wretches will usually crawl over whatever they are behind.
