I have to say I disagree. I don't see why a game has to be HD to be enjoyed fully. Galaxy is still one of the greatest games this gen and would remain so till the end of the gen. I think developers stick to HD because it is much easier to sell pretty looks than quality gameplay. Also I have never had any problem reading anything on Wii. In fact I am pretty sure text in NES were completely readable.

However, I agree 100% that HD movies aren't what they were/are hailed to be.

Games that try to portray realism benefit from HD graphics and console power. Case in point COD4. There is a fanbase for such games too. I have a friend that I converted into gaming just because he though cod4 really looked like the war in Iraq.

Galaxy isn't like this. Would you consider COD:WaW Wii to be on par with the PS360 version?

I would cosign on the movie part but I was never a big movie fan anyway. I last went to the movie theater in 2006.

To be honest I was going to get this game if it got great reviews but would have done so on Wii rather than 360 simply because the Wii remote would make it a much more enjoyeable experience than pretty graphics with a control pad.  I have been playing Fallout 3 and can't stand aiming with the controller (so use the VATS combat system as long as I have enough Action Points). And I downloaded the Left 4 dead demo and couldn't enjoy the game at all because of using a controller to aim.

Okay I have gone somewhat off topic.  COD: WaW with PS360 graphics and Wii control would be much better than what COD with Wii graphics so on that basis I agree that graphics can make game better.  I just don't agree with those who can't enjoy a game unless it is on a HD console as if before this gen no good game existed.

well if you have a 360 and still use an SDTV, I can see why you wouldn't care to buy cod5 on 360 or wii but remember that when the 6-hour single player campaign is up, you spend the rest of you time on the game online. Even if the game got good reviews on wii, would you rather play it online on 360 or wii?

I don't think anyone is saying that games need to be HD to be enjoyed. However, people tend to expect better picture as technology improves without thinking of the price they have to pay for it as this has always been the trend for video game consoles especially. HD graphics just adds a "wow" factor for most games although for others, it could be a relatively important selling point.

I've already preordered persona 4, a ps2 game even though I have a ps3. Also, I'm currently replaying xenogears. However, I won't be too happy if new JRPGs released on ps3 and looked like these games because I expect to get the HD graphics and power I paid for lol.

On the contrary I use a HD projector with 6 foot wide projection screen so more than have the set up to get the full benefit of HD gaming.  But the Wii remote makes a shooting game much more enjoyeable on Wii than on 360 even if the game has super amazing graphics

Enjoyable for you, but not all.  Personally, I think the Wii remote sucks.  I would much rather sit and relax while pushing buttons then stand up and wave my arms around.  But this much like your statement is opinion.

If you do play your Wii on a 6 foot wide projecter, it diffinatly looks like crap.  I say this because my sons Wii looks like crap on my 46" lcd.  If the game is good, better graphics add much more enjoyment.

You do know that their is a company that makes a VGA cable for the Wii. I've purchased one and have my Wii connected to a 1440 X 900 monitor and there are no jaggies. Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, and even The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Walker look fantastic.

There are videos over on Youtube where people have videoed themselves playing Wii games using the VGA cable, If you'd like a demostration.

Note: I've read that the cables do not support 480i. I do not know if this is true as I only read this from one source.

The product is called the VD-W2 Wii VGA Cable.

The other thought is to get a big HD monitor that I can plug the Xb360 into, like one of those 32 inch monitors, then I can at least say Im using it for my computer as well. =) We'll see what my options are like in the Spring. I imagine the prices will cool off a bit more by then

You can plug PCs into HD TVs.

So really it comes down to if you want a screen that has a tv receiver in it or not.

What I meant is that I could get a HD monitor and put it in my computer/studio room and leave my SDTV in the living room and let it continue to reign there. As for a TV receiver, def don't need that. Even my SDTV is used strictly for gaming, and maybe watching some Robot Chicken when I remember to. With a 360, I don't need to get up and move around like with the Wii, so I can chill and play from my computer chair.  Hmmm now Im thinking about a wall mounted computer monitor. Hotness.

Yeah you definitely need to upgrade your display. My TV finally died and I made the plunge  on my birthday to buy a decent HDTV. Even the Wii running at 480p looks better then running it SD. I always though that HD games looked good, just alot of the games they have thats all it is...looks.

...The cost of HD games didn't justify it to me. Right now the only thing that is making me think about purchasing an XB360 is that I wanna use it as a media center, and maybe Gears 2. Played Gears 1 and it wasn't bad, the tech flaws didn't hurt the game.
