Forums - Microsoft - Call of Duty World at War Reviews

Where are they?

I heard of a printed one and a couple others that gave it great reviews but usually AAA games have reviews out well before the actual release to spur more sales.

With Treyarch's history and how bad Quantum of Solace is I am wondering whether it is wise to buy this today.

Anyone else share these thoughts?

Everyone says it is awesome, but I too am wondering whether it is in fact not and there is a review embargo on them until after release.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Dont but it Treyarch are no talent hacks, a heap of better games are releasing right now.

The reason there are no review, is most likely because they give out the game early to major review sites, if the reviews are negative the publisher "activision" will ask them to hold the review of until release or after. The review sites comply because if they didnt the publisher would not give them early copies of their games any more.

I don't rely on reviews but it helps guide how much I am willing to pay for a game.  Since Australlian reviews aren't even up, I am wondering if this game will even score above 80%.  In which case my don't pay more then $20 rule kicks in.  Same goes for Mirror's Edge and Banjo Kazooie who have both only seen a few reviews (But, at least they have some).  This could go down as the week of the bombs this year.

That's why I am uneasy about this game.  Usually games with good reviews are put out at least a day before the release.  Games with lower reviews often see the reviews released after a day or two to get launch excited people to buy first.  Especially, a sequel to a critically acclaimed game as CoD4 was last year.

The fact that the game is out today, and there are no reviews at all is kind of surprising.

The game is better than Call of Duty 4 in all aspects. Graphics, gameplay, story and multiplayer is fantastic. People who have doubts about it, play it, rent it if you have to. This game is, hands down, better that Call of Duty 4, and I love CoD4.

Fix'd.

It looks like it's a dud.

I prefer a little more tangible evidence given what Quantum of Solace is and give CoD3.  I have seen the multi-player beta and it is pretty much CoD4.  The first five minutes video is somewhat uninspiring...  I need reviews to make a decision whether to buy this now or wait until later when it drops in price.

I hated COD 3 and COD 5 is set in WW2 again. Here we go the nth game set in WW2, no thanks.

I hope reviewers are harsh on this game and tell them that we as gamers want something new not some polished garbage WW2 game.
