Forums - Gaming - So where's my sequel?

The Wii has seen a couple unique and fun games hit the system and I've been greatful for them. games like Zack & Wiki, Boom Blox, Elebits,  No More Heroes and De Blob. Games that might not have lit up the charts, but are selling (or are on their way to selling) decent numbers. Until now, I've been pleased just to be able to play some of these great games. But then we got the No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle announcement. Despite only moving 340 thousand copies, No More Heroes was successful enough to warrant another shot. And now I'm wondering the big question.

Where the hell is Zack & Wiki 2? 440,000 sales for Capcom's little game that could, and yet so far no announcement. Are the dev's just fresh out of good puzzle ideas? is this an announcement just waiting to be made? I can't see why Capcom wouldn't want to release a sequel, now that the first game established the franchise, especially considering how different and untraditional the first game was.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Probably shifting resources to something they know can sell better.

^ Yeah, apparently, Zack & Wiki was just a game made to fund HD games like Street Fighter IV and such. They never really thought about making a sequel. I mean, tres could tell us more about it. ;)

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

On a dev cost to sales ratio, Zack & Wiki is probably a damn profitable venture.

"It takes a lot of time to create a crappy game, it takes a lot of time and a few hours overtime to make a great game"

No way am i saying Zack and Wiki was a crappy game. It was fun, someone said it was used to fund a higher game....It was.

I'm with you stof Z&W should be a franchise with new edition every year or so. It'd be a nice money maker and they could repackage and resell it (Z&W 1-3 collection) for years.
I'd also like to see what they could be with it with WM+.

Maybe it'll happen. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I agree i think zack and wiki is fun and there needs to be more of it. Not only that the more zack and wiki games the more funding for Hd....its a win win.

There were some rumours about a second Z & W project in the works, but Christian "The Party-Pooper" Svennson made a remark suggesting that no such project existed.

I guess since Capcom has two zombie-slaying million sellers on the platform, they may have decided that the effort would be better spent stripping content out of the Dead Rising franchise (it's not about the zombie count, it's about the photography) and putting it on Wii than making another modestly successful puzzle game. :/

Zack & Wiki is easily one of the top 10 games for Wii

Slowly this is becoming the most depressing thread on vgc. :[ But yes....Zombie games are good...but at the same time, it gets annoying when the wii's best 3rd party provider starts focusing on zombies more than developing awesome franchises. I think Okami and Zack & Wiki deserve Wii sequels. :[

Oh, I can look on the bright side. There are tons of puzzle/adventure games coming to the Wii. Few of them will have Zack & Wiki's charm or unique controls, though. They're mostly PC ports... For now, at least.
