I wasn't including pc I meant ps3 and 360 sorry for the misunderstanding.
I did say trade off to ps3 in my op.

GTA, DMC, and FF all made sense to go multiplatform though. They were released when the PS3 just wasn't doing well and were planned to go multiplatform long before that so the PS3 was doing even worse.
Games aren't about making something fun, they're about making money and that is it. With the insane huge budget of those games it just didn't make sense to release them only on the PS3 because they were not likely to make money.
Gears 2 didn't go multiplatform because it didn't have a 5 year development cycle and they knew it would sell more than a million on the first day. Gears 3 will likely be the same story.

The bolded is absolute garbage .First you "spreading resources" point is flawed a big project like Gears will likely draw more resources from other areas of epic if needs be. As for a microsoft advertising deal > Multiplatform release = LOL.
@Twestern "Gears 2 didn't go multiplatform because it didn't have a 5 year development cycle and they knew it would sell more than a million on the first day. Gears 3 will likely be the same story."
That doesn't explain why Epic wouldn't make a PS3 version of the game .

Oh it will go to Pc for sure =p.

Not to mention how unhappy Cliffy would be, he is one step away from a self confessed 360 fanboy, heck M$ (or Epic) accidentally said (slipped out) that Epic was a first party for M$. The post is floating around somewhere on the forums.
I really don't think we will see gears on the PS3.

Well Epic already proved they're not first party to M$ with the release of a TIMED EXCLUSIVE deal regarding Unreal Tournament III with Sony for PS3. As far Gears going multiplat, even though EPIC owns the IP, not M$, I doubt M$ would let this slip and frankly I hope it stays exclusive. Like I always say, it's stupid to have multiple systems if they all get the same games - yes that's stupid. As far as Resistance ever going multiplat - FAT CHANCE. Sony, unlike M$ with Gears, owns the IP of Resistance so even if Insomniac decided to jump ship on Sony, which won't happen, Sony will ALWAYS own the rights to the Resistance franchise. |
I don't think it's stupid to have a third party game go multiplatform. Especially since I really like Gears of War 1, and only own a PS3 (and want to only own a PS3).
I hope that Gears of War goes multiplatform. But I don't think it will.

It would be interesrting to get your thoughts on it. |
It does not work that way. They can't just trade games for other games.
Anyway....MS owns the gears name.
