Because it is not one of the white man's drugs.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Cocaine and Heroin are white man drugs.

It's not legal because washington likes to take your rights away. Simple as that.

If the government doesn't protect our children, who will? I sure as fuck ain't raising my own kids. I'm planting them in front of the TV and the Nintendo. That's how my parents raised me and I came out fine!

Yes. In fact it was legal for the first 161 years of this country. Then people started thinking they knew what the constitution meant better then the first 8 generations did.

We still have those kinds of people.

The white man's drugs argument is about cocaine. Cocaine and crack are the same exact thing. Rich white people use coke and poor black people use crack. They have different punishments. Coke is a slap on the wrist and a "be more careful next time whitey." Crack has serious punishment. Making sure coke and crack have the same penalties is actually one of Obama's goals mentioned at his web site.

Heroin is illegal because people are wusses and whine about how addictive it is, even though nicotine is at least as addictive.

Cannabis is illegal and named "marijuana" because it was a Mexican peoples' drug and we hated Mexicans. Also there were anti-hemp lobbyists that held that shit back like it was an electric car.

There are a couple of reasons why tobacco is not prohibited and marijuana is. One, tobacco is an important agricultural product in the US-especially the Southern states. The US produces the 4th largest amount of tobacco in the world. If you propose the prohibition of tobacco, you will have alienated large segment of the nation. No politician is willing to accept the risk. Second, marijuana is perceived to have a stronger psychoactive effect than tobacco.
Do I agree with the prohibition of marijuana? No, I believe it should be legalized and regulated.

 What dose that mean?

A psychoactive drug is a substance that alters your brain function. Common psychoactive drugs include caffeine and nicotine. The common belief is that marijuana has a stronger effect on brain functions than nicotine. Therefore, it is deemed dangerous and prohibited.

Do I agree that marijuana should be prohibited-should it be illegal? I do not believe that marijuana should be prohibited.
