Come on. You gotta admit....
When the guy who wins has like 10 times the money, and is part of the party that's 33% bigger then the other party... AND the other party is conected to one of the least popular administrations of all time.... it's really an epic thing and a true miracle.
Like when a brother beats up his little sister. |
Who said anything about a miracle?
Now, it may be that the person you're referring to meant to say that Obama pulled out a victory against long odds. And though that was probably true against Mrs. Clinton, it probably wasn't against McCain, although both of your figures are exaggerated.
But that's not the way I read it. I saw it as that he was, by saying "epic and poetic", trying to describe the kind of feeling it is for that man to become President. First black Pres., quite young, charismatic and inspires people, ready (many believe) to finally (finally, FINALLY) make America leave the baggage of the '60s behind it, etc.
Or, it could be how he GOT that advantage in campaign machinery over the Republicans. Most of the "establishment" was backing Clinton AFAIK, but Obama managed to outdo it. But this is kind of second- or third-hand info so you may know better than me if you followed the Democratic primaries very closely. Also the bajillion small donations.
In any case, the Obama reference certainly came out of nowhere.
