Forums - Microsoft - Gears 2 Multiplayer completly broken :(

@ Skeeuk: As much as I hate to admit it, yes it is very broken, especially compared to Gears 1. I can't even find a way to do player matches with people outside my friends list, only ranked matches. And I HATE ranked matches. I want to be able to join a group of people on XBL, whether I know them or not, and play match after match after match, just like the good old Gears 1 days.

Gears 2 has better gameplay and a better storyline then Gears 1, but its multiplayer is 3 MASSIVE steps backward.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Matchmaking in GOW2 is awfull, i spent 50 mins earlier wating to connect to a game, They should have stuck with the Gears 1 system which worked fine for finding matches

Maybe it's server load??

I played the midnight launch and have been playing pretty much all day. Early in the day it was multiplayer but so far this afternoon it's been all Horde. I haven't had any problems at all connecting to others. We had one guy who couldn't join us today but changing the host fixed that problem.

What, maybe one year.  Don't even bring up the arcade (can't play online)

P2P may be microsofts future, but that doesn't change the fact that they suck!

A dedicated server may not be around for 20 years, but neither will your 360.

so yeah stay on your live .... microsoft forces you to pay.

Way to off topic troll...and be wrong at the same time.

Arcade can go online.  In fact a few people on here online game with the arcade. Dedicated servers aren't the end be all fix for everything either.  They didn't exactly work out so great for the SOCOM and LBP launch did they?

... says the troll...

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Online runs great, fantastic game all 360 owners should own. OP you really need to look at how online play works and the new modes, your post is flawed.

For the troll who said "Long live free networks with dedicated servers" how long is it before those servers are switched off after they release a new version of a game or just simply don't want to pay for it any longer ? Only Sony Servers will stay up the other 80% of game companys can switch off whenever they want on PS3 games and there is NOTHING you can do about it.

On the 360 even if there is only 2 people in the world playing a title online they will NEVER go off, only EA has any controll over their games on the 360 the rest is MS controlled so LONG LIVE LIVE and paying a small yearly fee for peace of mind etc etc etc..

The BEST Game this Gen is Gears of War 2 ..

So basically, you are complaining because they copied the 2 most successful 360 online game's matchmaking? (COD4 and Halo 3).
