I also found the inclusion of the Level score from the Czech Republic for Fable 2 to be weird, but I just chalked it up to Metacritic's apparently random method of choosing what sites' reviews matte

100 /100is really randum,,,,not,,,,,,come on dude ,,they manipulate the data ,,,let's not fool ourselves.

Variety - a distribution subsidiary of Microsoft

The highly controversial website Variety which gave Resistance 2 and LBP 7 and 8 respectively compared to a 9.8 given to Fable 2 is actually a subsidiary of Microsoft. An alliance for distribution between the 2 companies was formed in 2007

"MSN® is joining forces with Variety.com to bring even more entertainment information to the site's visitors. The distribution relationship will provide Variety with an avenue for reaching an even wider global audience and at the same time offer MSN a broader range of information on television, movies, music and Internet deals.

"For decades, Variety has set the standard in reporting on the entertainment industry," said Jeff Dossett, executive producer and general manager for MSN. "We've seen a growing appetite on MSN for Hollywood information, and this collaboration will help us continue to offer our audience the best source for what's happening in the entertainment industry. ^^^exactly,,,,metacritics wants to manipulate the metascore so that MS can keep saying that they have more AAA game in their PR.

for instance metacritics added a score of 100/100 for fable 2 from a website called Level which is a blog in Czech language(without any link and reference to the website).I don't see why this site was added other than sole purpose of pushing the meta score of fable 2 over 90.

now tell me that's not data manipulation.
LEVEL (Czech Republic)
A fabulous platformer game and powerful editing tools in one package. Creative players will reach heaven with possibilities this game offers, and others can enjoy fruits of their work. [Nov 2008]

Guess the game, win a prize.

@squilliam
I know what game it is but that website should not be added what so ever since there is no link provided,,,,,after paying close attention ,it's clear to me that metacritics is really manipulating the data.

One word: No.

Two words: Absolutely not.

Six words: You gotta be f***ing kidding me!

Reason: They have a reputation to uphold. Look at what happened to Gamespot when it came out that they put their own gain and the interests of Eidos ahead of their users. If companies like Valve etc stop using their ratings on steam for example they would lose an important source of revenue, a continued sustained source. They are only valuable as a source of ratings if they are considered to be impartial and unbiased.

I doubt there's a 'true' conspiracy here.

As I see it Metacritic is just plain inconsistent in choosing review sites which is why I don't use it anymore. You can't compare their scores when they are made up of differing sources, number of reviews, etc. They need to settle on a smaller number of review sources that will review all games and use those as the baseline would then be identical for all games. I know it seems suspicous when they include random sources but I suspect I could find examples on all platforms, hence my reluctance to cry 'foul'.

It's true that most PS3 exclusives do seem to pick up more 'outlier' reviews - i.e. reviews which seem far from the general consensus, and yes more than a few are coming from Variety but I still struggle with 'conspiracy' simply because all it would take is one leaked email confirming it to cause untold damage to MS, etc. and the payoff just doesn't seem worth it.

I doubt more than 1% of game purchasers WW actually look/know about these sources.

Also, use gameranking, still not perfect but better.

But if you think something's there then email them with your concerns, list the 'evidence' and ask for a reply on why their (Variety) scores for recent PS3 games are so far from the general trend from other sites?

Should be an interesting answer whatever.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Dude, describing things you don't like that way is actually insulting and bigoted towards the gay community. Could you please edit your post?
