The Lost World(Jurassic Park 2) is based off of Crichton's sequel The Lost World. Jurassic Park 3 had nothing to do with Crichton I think. Jurassic Park 4 is being made and Speilberg is producing. He's curently throwing out script revision after script revision because he's not happy with them. Sam Neill(Dr. Grant), Laua Dern(Dr. Satler) and Richard Attenborough(John Hammond) are all pegged to return.

The Lost World movie departed way too much from the book imho. They replaced Dogdson (yes one guy) by an army of dinosaur hunters just so they could up the death count. Not to mention the T-Rex in San Diego part which although it was cool was never in the book

No I know in the novel Jurassic Park his character was killed off, so don't jump down my throat.

Sad about Crichton though, he shall be missed.  Two really good authors have died in a span of a year, so lame!

Ian Malcolm is declared dead in the first book but in the second you learn that people in Costa Rica have different degrees of being dead and that he was just in a coma after all.
