Arizona also passed a constitutional amendment to constrict marriage to between a man and a woman. The chance of the marriage amendment passing in California is tenuous.

did that amendment also void all previously legal marriages and unions like the Florida amendment.
I voted no on the amendment btw.. I know to many gay and lesbian people and I support their choice thats why I voted against it.

The Arizona amendment does such a thing. I am unsure if the California Amendment also does such a thing?
frankly I disagree with these amendments. Love is one thing that the government federal or state should not have say over. It is very immoral that we are the land of the free but we ban free choice to marry who you want.

I say ban marriage... all marriage. Well, don't ban it, but why recognize it as anything?
A religious union should have no place in the US government. If you want to give people who share a life together some tax breaks, or extra benefits, then fine.
Have a Civil Union, and require EVERYONE who wants government benefits under this Union to apply for it.
It should have nothing to do with marriage.

marriage is universal across all walks of life but I do agree with you that it needs to be a more balanced playing field.

The problem is the word marriage has two meanings. To religious people, it's a union before god. To a government, it's a contract representing two people who now share ownership.
Separate them. and we no longer have a problem. Stop calling the government version marriage.
That's sad. Good for Canadian Tourism I guess, but still pretty sad.
As Prime Minister Trudeau so rightly put it, "The state has no place in the bedrooms of the nation"

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
Its really sad that Florida has told me my relationship doesn't mean anything. I understand that some people have religious reasons to believe marriage is between a man and a woman but does that mean that if I get sick my partner wouldn't be able to visit me in the hospital? Does it mean that we shouldn't be entitled to the tax breaks that straight couples have the option to receive if they get married?? If you want to say marriage is between a man and a woman that's fine.. but gay people should have a legal equivalent, which we can't have since the amendment passed.
Its a question of civil rights.
