If World War III were to occur, describe how you think it would play out, and all parties involved.  I don't want to hear "I hope war never happens," or "I'm a pacifist".  This is simply about possibilities that could happen in any given scenario if all out war were to ever happen.  Based on current military statistics on countries throughout the world, lets hear how you think it would play out.  Also possible outcomes, if any besides total annihlation.

The only way a World War is going to happen, is if the US lost its military might.

Aside from that (and it could be done in a mass scale nuclear attack), there never will be a world war.

I couldn't agree with you more about the U.S. military :D However, I stated "if" there ever were one, regardless if there will never be one or not.  I just want to know what everyone thinks about the theoretical possibility of the outcome of one.

It's hard to guess the outcome, when you can't construct a scenario where we would be in one.

WWIII:

Right now we have what is in my opinion, a couple of razor-thin delicate situations that have been going on in the world; all it would take is one small but significant scenario to cause the shit to hit the fan.

Phase I: China vs. Taiwan and Allies

If the right president is elected, one who would have the balls to do so, he declares the island independent. China invades, drawing the U.S. into Taiwan to defend it, via the mutual protection pact. Japan and Australia side with the U.S. China launches a missle barrage onto the island, devastating major military outposts. The U.S. Navy engages with the Chinese Navy in it's waters. This battle is open to interpretation, but the U.S. would probably take the Chinese in a naval war and send planes into the mainland to take out more military targets.

Phase II: Israel and Allies vs. Everyone Else

Israel and Palestine fail to reach a formal agreement and all hell breaks loose when the IDF moves in to seal the territory. Iran, keeping with it's commitment to "wipe Israel off the map" launches an offensive. Syria sides with them in the engagement. Iran moves to cut off oil shipping routes and meets with the U.S. Fifth fleet. A coalition is created among various E.U. nations and the U.S. as they move in to "neutralize" the conflict.

Phase III: India vs. Pakistan

A misunderstanding takes place when a border conflict skirmish turns into all-out war as both sides begin threatening to launch nukes at each other.

Meh, I'm too tired to type out much more, but for Phase IV I would have included South America. Venezuela initiating something causing the shit to fly, yada yada. The only thing I left out is what Russia will be doing during all of this. Who's side would they take. The Chinese? Nato? pft...probably not...

M.A.D. anyone?

If the US is in, the whole NATO has to be in. That's what they created it for...
