I got my SAT scores a few days ago and I did much better than I thought I had did. xD
Math - 780
Reading - 660
Writing - 540 (9 on the Essay)
I did really terrible in writing (65 percentile D:) but I did kickass in reading (91 percentile) and math (99 percentile)!
And, wow, I got one question wrong on the Math section, which was an easy question. I got all the medium and hard ones right. D:

Writing owned me on the PSAT sophmore year (540), but by the time junior year rolled around I aced it (760). Its something you can totally study for. I am just glad there weren't any essays on the PSAT.

I just took the SAT yesterday, so we'll see how I do. I'm also waiting for my ACT results. I do well in school though, so I'm hoping I got high scores. Congrats on getting in the 99th percentile in math, that's amazing!

It's the bigger of two standardized tests that colleges use for undergraduate application and admission (mostly Bachelor's degrees at 4 year Universities). The scores are also used for Scholarships (private and government) because college tuition is different here.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Regardless, keep in mind those percentiles are from those who actually took the SATs... which would be college-bound students. Not everyone. Although I think I've heard they are mandatory nowadays? Is this true?

I was the last school year that had the old SAT. I had the option to take either one. I said fuck the writing! Ironically, the writing was my best section on the PSAT. But there was no essay on the PSAT. Not that I am bad at essays (I was an English major after all), I just hate them on standardized tests.
I got 5's on both my AP English tests (which are predominantly writing), yet I almost failed the standardized writing test implemented here in Texas after No Child Left Behind. Not surprisingly, I got every question write on the multiple choice but for whatever reason they gave me 1 out of 3 on all my short answers and 2 out of 4 on my essay. That just doesn't make sense if I was able to get 5's on both AP tests, as those tests are way harder!
Just goes to show you that even what they are looking for in government mandated standardized tests is just BS stick to a formula kind of writing, not actual good writing.
Though I do admit I trust the Collegeboard (does the AP tests and SAT tests) a million times more than the Texas Legislature.
