PSP Forecast: 9 million
PSP Q1: 2.14 million
PSP Q2-Q4 Forecast: 6.86 million

EDIT - corrected PS2 shipping increase after FishyJoe corrected one of the numbers above.

Not just that but they "expect" the PS3 shippings to be 383% higher in each of the last 3 quarters in relation to the first quarter. 2% higher for the PS2 and 7% higher for the PSP. They're in for a big dissapointment this Christmas.

PS: And for everyone who was saying that Sony was already making a profit on the PS3, Sony says:

"This deterioration was primarily due to the loss arising from the strategic pricing of PS3 at points lower than its production cost ..."

Either their estimates are way off or they are giving up on the PSP.

I found it highly revealing that worldwide hardware shipments for Q1 were only 0.7 million for PS3. Does anyone else remember how there was a mini-version of channel stuffing to hit the 6 million goal by the end of March? Looks like that was reflected here.

How are they going to sell 11 million this fiscal year after a quarter of only 0.7 million? You can't even hit those numbers counting shipped as sold...

PS2 Q1 is 2.7 . not 1.7

You're right, I fixed it. Thanks.

BTW

did you noticed the remark under the table?

"Begining with Q1 FY2007, the method of reporting hardware and software unit sales has been changed from production shipments to recorded sales"

what does it mean "recorded sales"

so the 0.7 million PS3 are sold or shiped?

Yeah, I'm sure they're giving up on their highest selling platform in the current gen. /sarcasm. Seriously though, PSP sold nearly 300k in JULY(NA alone)..................

Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I'm just looking at their estimate. 6.86 million PSPs projected for Q2-Q4. Those aren't stellar numbers. Contrast that to Nintendo's forecast of 19 million for Q2-Q4 for the DS.

yuda - It means they're reporting their numbers as sold to retailers instead of shipped from the factories. It's just a fancy way of avoiding having to mention the 2-3 million PS3's they have sitting around that they made but that the retailers won't buy yet.
