Forums - Sony - Why Metal Gear Solid 4 was disappointing...*spoilers*

My conclusion. Kojima my friend, what have you done? You turned a wonderful story into something atrocious. I bet I didn’t even write everything I truly hated about the story or game play. The Patriots ended up being a huge upset, and every answer I wanted was indeed answered, just not the way I hoped. Just things like EVA being the mother of Snake and the FoxDie scare ended up being nothing just disappointed me. The lack of game play and fun just seems to have depleted from the series. I will conclude that the game is good and is worth the buy from all the fans and ps3 owners. But if you are a true MGS fan and say that you loved the story and everything about MGS4, I would have to say you are a fake even if it’s your opinion. MGS4 was my main reason for a ps3 and I almost miss the times before the game came out. Before I would watch the trailers in awe and keep guessing how the series would end. I sure do miss those times. All the sites that have reviewed this game a perfect 10 is beyond me. That is all I have to say for now about Metal Gear Solid 4.

It's a pretty nice read, and I agree with most of his points.

I don't know why you feel this way. I loved mgs4. Perhaps Kojima is only human, he can't please all. The series has always had lots of cutscenes and codec conversations btw, don't know why you find that to be a problem now.

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

So, he dislikes the game because he came up with some elaborate ending in his head, and Kojima came up with something, um...different?

I can understand not liking some of the answers, but being mad that they weren't what you hoped they would be is just stupid.

Honestly, I was expecting some different answers too. Vamp for one, every time he died in MGS2 he touched water, so I figured it was the water that revived him. Exspecially because one of the characters cut from MGS2 had a tattoo that revived him when water touched it. When vamp first died he revived after Fortune's tear fell on him. The second time he falls into the water apon you defeating him. The third time he fell into the ocean. I was a little upset by this and other revelations but ultimately, it didn't matter. It concluded an incredible narrative tieing up all the loose ends and in one hell of an epic way.

Agreed.  He is being stupid for hating MGS4s story just because the story didn't go the way he wanted it to.

It's not the opinion of the OP it's an article people...

Anyway MGS4 was a good game but it didn't even come close to MGS3 or the original in terms of quality in both gameplay and story.

I disagree.  The controls were better than previous MGS games and the story didn't leave any cliffhangers like the previous MGS games.  Previous MGS games had great gameplay and stories but MGS4 improved overall all of them.

I didn't write this. The cutscenes are fine with me as well as the codec. The only cutscene I didn't like was the wedding one. The codecs weren't as terrible as MGS2, but they did get annoying when you defeated a boss. Couldn't there be another way to tell the back story of the bosses?

^ I agree about the wedding scene. It's when I first discovered that Meryl has man arms. Brought her hotness down like three levels for me. :(
