Forums - Gaming - Boku: Microsoft's answer to Little Big Planet?

Today Microsoft realease some pictures about a new software called Boku:

http://research.microsoft.com/projects/boku/

Here's the intro for the presentation:

Boku is a new visual programming language made specifically for creating games. It is designed to be accessible for children and enjoyable for anyone. The programming environment runs on the XBox, allowing rapid design iteration using only a game controller for input.

This software is still in a early stage but seems like Microsoft really wants to put a 3d enviroment. User generated content is a double edge weapon so let's see what future awaits for this one.

It definitely has a style. I wonder if we can even place the camera and all that. If so, then yeah, it could compete against LBP!

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

MS copies Sony confirmed.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

this looks way better than LBP

;)

Wow, wtf, MS think of your own stuff for once please.

*sigh*

I really hate it when MS does this, bums me out. Then again, it was deemed to happen sometime soon.

Edit: I'm glad it's not a straight rip-off though, that would really upset me.  Atleast this is different in it's own sorta way.

  • 2010 MUST Haves: WKC, Heavy Rain, GoWIII, Fable III, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, FFXIII, Alan Wake, No More Heroes 2, Fragile Dreams: FRotM, Trinity: SoZ, BFBC2.
  • Older Need To Buys: Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Deadspace, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2.

There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.

I see....I thought there might at least be a bit of a time period after the release of LittleBigPlanet before anyone copied anyone. I think LBP has more appealing feel and look. The 3D field of Boku is interesting though which will offer a new kind of experience.
