This is pretty cool:
Say, have you recently purchased an Xbox 360 Arcade console, and now you're looking for a storage solution that's a little meatier than a http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3170625">refurbished 20GB hard drive?
Microsoft, apparently, was expecting you would be, as they're set to release the "Xbox 360 60GB Live Starter Pack" in November, a $99 kit that'll come with everything you need to become a modern gamer: a 60GB hard drive, an Xbox Live headset, a three-month Xbox Live Gold subscription, and an Ethernet cable.
Microsoft themselves haven't formally announced this yet, but the pack has begun showing up on retailer listings, with GameStop http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=72747">dating it for this coming Tuesday, November 4. That'll give Xbox 360 Arcade owners two weeks to consider a purchase before the (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3170589">storage-space requiring) New Xbox Experience launches on November 19.
Essentially, what the pack does is allow on-the-fence gamers to buy the more frugal Xbox 360 Arcade unit now, and not be penalized later when they want to upgrade to the features that come with the Xbox 360 Pro. Xbox 360 Arcade units currently retail for $200, meaning the addition of this pack would put the total price on par with the Xbox 360 Pro unit, which retails for $300.
