Forums - General - Buying games on Ebay - safe?

I recently found out I lost my copy of MGS4....opened the case to check somethin, and it was empty....I most likely left it in the PS3 when I refunded it....not sure how I managed to do that, but yeah it's stupid =/

So now, I plan on rebuying a ps3 to try and see if I could actually connect to PSN this time using a router. I'm getting it with Resistance 2, and if I do manage to connect to PSN I'd also like to try Metal Gear Online. The thing there is, I'd rather get MGS4 used and cheap this time around - don't wanna spend another $60.

My main question: Is buying games off Ebay safe and reliable? I found this one user on there, which seems more like a company, that sells nothing but used games at pretty cheap prices. It has 100+ good feedback. I've never bought a single thing from Ebay, but I've heard mostly bad stuff about it. I was thinking about buying a majority of my PS3 games from Ebay since I heard Blu-Ray discs are extremely sturdy, so most games should come in good condition even if they're used I hope.

What do you guys think? Also, should I get a wired or wireless router? Is there a big difference?

Thanks.

Personally I prefer Amazon, because I can pay with my credit card over using paypal, which I feel is safer if I have a dispute.

Currently, it is ~35 over at amazon.com

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Yeah a user with a 100 + feedback should be safe , if you want to be extra safe check the peopel who gave the feedback and see if they have high feedback themselves.

If you use paypal you get automaticly insured up to a certain amount , in the Uk it's something like £500.

ive never had a real issue purchasing games off ebay before.

I've had 1 movie that I bought from e-bay scratched to death, while I had 1 game I bought from amazon be a pirated copy of the game which didn't save to the cartridge (GBA)

So which is safer, who knows.

I've bought a few games on eBay. I haven't had any issues whatsoever.

I've bought over 10 games using Ebay ranging from good used to brand new condition.

I have to say that my experience thus far has only been positive. That doesn't mean that there aren't people out there trying to scam you, but just watch the seller ratings and buy intelligently.

I've bought and sold games on Ebay and never had any real problems.
If you pick a user with a high positive feedback and plenty of sales even if there is a problem they are usually ok about refuding your money.
