The songs have an option to adjust the tempo.  You can't adjust the exact beats per minute, but there's a slider to make it faster or slower than the default.

One of the neat things about Wii Music is that you don't have to adhere to pre-set melodies.  Take this video based on Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, for instance.

I think I'll call this piece "Toccata and Fudge"

I'm loving the flexibility of Wii Music.  You can take a song in a straightforward 4/4 meter and turn it into a Jazz Waltz.
