This is a very misleading editorial. And the console that the author should be concerned about is the 360. The 360 had several games that were supposed to be AAA titles that just failed to live up to the hype this year. The PS3 has been kicking the 360's can worldwide for most of the year and the PS3 also has the highest rated game on any console going into the holidays plus the strongest lineup of games going into next year. The biggest indication that the 360 is in trouble? European sales. The 360 costs just a little bit more than 1/2 half the price of the PS3 in the Others territory, yet the PS3 almost always dominates the 360 there. The 360 is pure and simply on its way out now. Failures such as the 360's inability to get a game like MGS4 when it would have mattered or a Japanese version of FFXIII which will result in the sale of at least 2 million more PS3 console sales in Japan which will snap off just as much of the 360's worldwide lead, and the aforementioned failure of most of the 360's key games of 2008 to live up to their hype including indications that the supposed crown jewel of the 360's lineup Gears of War 2 is following the same trend has hastened the 360's demise.
Expect the next console from Microsoft to be announced at next Spring's GDC while over the next couple of years the PS3 will go on to challenge and tighten its fight against the Wii with games that will dazzle gamer's worldwide and which the Wii won't really have anything that will come close to matching until the next Zelda and Mario games are released in the Spring and Fall of 2010.
My most anticipated games: Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort. Cave Story Wiiware.

Since I find this thread already ended with the Gamecube point I will now talk about cats...
Former something....
Did somebody mention cats?

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III
Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII
Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger
Let's say Sony does drop out (which I highly doubt they will). What will Msoft do with their next console in terms of pricing and games?
They could charge $500+ for their next console and never lower the price. Because the only competition they will have is Nintendo. Unless Nintendo decides to make a more "Hardware" heavy system. Devs will still be making hardcore and graphically intensive games for the 360 over Nintendo.
If Msoft's console is the only "graphically hardcore" system out, I bet they quit paying these gaming companies huge dollars for exclusives.
So you will still have to buy their system for their games.
Windows (Not cheap unless you go OEM), Zune (Not super cheap, still pretty expensive in comparison to other brands minus Ipod) and now Gaming (Will be expensive or moderately expensive if they do happen to push Sony out of the race).
I'm not being hater/fanboy whatever, it's just the truth.
There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.

"PS3 is last console from sony just like windows vista is last bad product from MS."
Lol. Microsoft can't get anything to operate right though the xbox was probaley the most "problem free" thing they created.
All three will be around for the next era. I thinki Nintendo will be around a long time while Sony and Microsoft will fight it out with the loser leaving within the next two consle eras.
