Forums - Sony Discussion - Why Sony needs to stop drinking its own Kool-Aid

Wii in first, PS3 in second, and Xbox 360 in 3rd

Is there an alternative? The 360 is at 200$ and it barely outsells the PS3 at 400$. The 360 will have a more successful generation than last but seriously.

The 360 would need to beat the Wii to do this, which I say is a no go. The PS3 still competes with the 360 despite price cuts and it hasn't taken off enough in Japan to guarantee victory over PS3 or Wii in that region - remember PS3's biggest offerings in Japan haven't dropped yet. So I believe your prediction is false, I still believe this gen will end: Wii in first, PS3 in second, and Xbox 360 in 3rd just from watching the current trend. That 360 price cut however, might not be done yet doing wonders so I guess we have to wait it out. Despite my prediction, ALL these consoles are fantastic, have something for everyone, and make me an EXTREMELY happy gamer :D

Note the quotation marks. That isn't my prediction. That's Reisinger's.

He should take his own advice and stop drinking the kool-aid.

I would just like to add on the HDTV aspect of the article.

Visio TV's were considered 1 year TV's.

They are cheap Wal*mart TV's that fail like a RROD, well that was the case about 2 years ago when they first came out.

Now the Viszo Quality has gotten extremely better.

Sony does make the best looking HDTV and it is also the most expensive on the market, and their other ones that aren't as good are still priced way higher then the rest.

Sony does need to lower the price of the TV's, it was good when HDTV's were new to the market, but now everyone makes them.

for the Record I own a 61" DLP Samsung 1080p 3D-rdy, and a 54" Samsung Projection HDTV 1080i, I love them Both amazing picture.

We are getting to a point where 50 inch 1080p TVs are showing up for under $1000 on sale which (when configured properly) do not seem that inferior to a Sony TV when displaying HD content, so I'm not so sure $2100 really ever looks like a "good deal"

the old sony trinitrons always cost more cause they were better. There have always been cheap knock offs you get what you pay for and even CNET were this article starts states sony and samsung make the best LCD tvs

Also sony has a 52 v series that comes in around $1800.00. Sony wont sell a cheap TV and I applaud them for that

That's too broad of a statement.  The justification of a price difference comes from factors like native resolution, number of HDMI ports, refresh rate, and contrast ratio.  These factors and others do have a signifigant impact and justification aside from a 2" difference.
