40 hour games considered short these days?

10-30 hours, depending on how many extras you do.

10 hours is short for an RPG, yes.  It's probably half of what is often expected.

4.5/5 from GameSpy

http://xbox360.gamespy.com/xbox-360/fable-2/921728p1.html

Pros
Gorgeous graphics; rich setting; freedom to explore an open fantasy world; man's best friend wins best supporting character.

Cons
Inventory management is annoying; lots of retreading the same locations; silly expression system disconnects you from character interactions.

Another STRONG review, and a serious candidate for GOTY!

ArsTech hits the heart of the game... I can hardly wait till 12... The problem with reviewing a game like this is that the game is an experience as a whole and running through it start to finish doesn't really give you a true feel for the game... I look forward to the Gamespot review... wonder who is doing it? I think it comes out at 8pm cst or somethin

The game is 10 hours, IF YOU JUST RUN THRU IT, and end it as a pauper, with no family, no property, nothing!  If that's how you want to play the game...go for it, but a vast majority of people will want to have some loot, have some pu#$y every now and then and have some property, and have a job that bring some cash.  Most will want to gamble a bit, and acutally "live" in the game, rather than run right thru it.  Molyneaux was VERY clear about this, but if you want to focus on "10 hours of gameplay..." go right ahead.  I'm going to get about 300 hours out of the game myself...and this game cries for DLC, so must 360 buyers will be very happy, unlike 360 haters sitting on the sidelines...are spending hours in a side scroller that will cure cancer...<wink><wink>.

@skeeuk

no as it was there in Fable 1 too

Correct.

This shouldn't be a surprise at all.  It was in the first one so only expected that they would keep it in the sequel.  There was even comical fade to black "sex" with your partner as well.

Game duration tends to become shorter when it isn't padded with 40 minutes cutscenes.
