alright so to divide a fraction

lets say -2/3 divided by -3/5

you just turn it into

-2/3 times -5/3

and then its 10/3....?

 multiply the bottom(demonitator, can't spell today) and top part(numerator) to get 10/9.

negative * negative = positive

When multiplying fractions you don't multiply the denominators, just the nominators so it would be 10/3.

my calculator disagrees

What? of course you multiply the denominator...

proof...

-2/3 = -0,666666...

-5/3 = -1,666667...

-2/3 x -5/3 (their decimals)= 1,1111111....

10/3 = 3,333333...

10/9 = 1,111111...

There you are...

Damn, and i have a biology test tomorrow and haven't studied yet, why don't we talk about plants now? :P

Isolate y by dividing -3/5 from each side.

Every single person so far has forgotten the distributive property of multiplication.

Skip, flip, multiply

-5/3(-3/5y)=-5/3(-2/3x + 5)

Distribute

-5/3(-3/5y)=-5/3(-2/3x) + -5/3(5)

Two negs make a pos. Neg times Pos = Neg.

15/15y = 10/9x-25/3

y = 10/9x - 25/3

m = 10/9
b = -25/3

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

one way to think of it is to multiply everything by 5 first, to get rid of the denominator, then divide by 3 to get rid of the numerator, leaving y = 10/9(x) - 25/3

or, uh, you could use a calculator.
