Christmas '08 is going to be about halfway through the general life expectancy of all three consoles. Sony obviously has big plans for 2008 and that Christmas will likely be their big showing for the PS3 across its lifetime. However, that said, this is almost definitely Sony covering their tracks by saying "It's okay, we weren't going to win it this year anyway." after all the bad press and third-party departures lately. |
I think that is probably the most accurate way to say it. MS is pushing this year, and banking on it. Sony isn't pushing this year so much. They will still sell tons of PS2 and PSPs, while next year they can get the PS3 into a realistic price range with a robust line up, that is their big year. Nintendo is a really a whole different show, every years is profitable for them.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
