Noone can seriously call Valkyria Chronicles more than a niche favourite of some hardcore SRPG lovers.

Make a personal favourites thread, because it most definitely does not belong here.

Just because it's an SRPG doesn't mean it's a niche title. It is half FPS half SRPG with BEAUTIFUL watercolor graphics and an original story setting. How can you deny that this has the potential to be a holiday blockbuster title?

Either we have completely seperate notions of the level of sales required for something to be considered a "blockbuster" or you are flat-out kidding yourself.

How am I kidding myself? I'm not saying it's going to sell three million copies. What I am trying to say is that it has the potential to be a great game, if not AAA. Maybe I have a different idea of what blockbusters are than you. When I think of a blockbuster I think of quality and not quantity.

Edit: How the hell does Red Alert 3 qualify as a holiday blockbuster title and Valkyria Chronicles doesn'tEither you must love RTS games or you simply have no idea what Valkyria Chronicles is because the game looks great.

When I think great game I think quality.  When I think blockbuster (and I made this quite clear in the OP), I think sales, critical reception and popular opinion.  VK wont get the sales.   And even if it gets the critical reception, not enough people have heard of it for it to get the popular opinion even if EVERYONE that had heard of it loved it.

If you consider Red Alert 3 a holidy blockbuster, then you must consider Valkyria Chronicles one as well. Valkyria Chronicles WILL sell more copies than Red Alert 3. I think that you're seriously underestimating this game.

I may remove Red Alert 3, though it is from a strong series in a genre that is popular on the Xbox 360 (relative to other consoles).

VK sold 150k in it's home territory and is niche.  How many do you honestly expect it too sell?

I'd say 1m to 1.5m if it turns out to be as good as I expect it to be. You can't base it on it's sales in Japan because they only buy established franchises whereas in the states and Europe, good games usually sell well.

I don't know much games from other consoles but i seriously never heard of Red Alert or Left 4 dead. Even games like animal crossing and wii music I heard of... but those games? what? they are to be considered that high comparable to Gears of war and Fable 2? what?!!?

*scratches head*

PS3-White Knight Chronicles!

I never played and barely heard of Valkryrie Chronicles.

You should also add white knight chronicles as well
