Forums - Microsoft - I have an honest question for anyone who has got RROD

I would just like to say thanks to all, including any who thought about flaming but didn't. A really interesting and enlightening read, Thanks. I agree that i cant see MS making the same mistake again. Although RRoD did put me off the 360 i do feel like I'm missing out on two of the biggest games this gen in Crackdown & Mass effect. If i was a little more well off i would get the now cheap 360 for these two games alone

I got RROD once. Sold the refurb to a friend and "upgraded" to  a Falcon elite. Would I ever completely get rid of my 360? No, why should I? The max wait time to get my repaired 360 back is about a week and a half. Between those two weeks I could play my PS2, Wii, DS, or hell my PC. Theres no reason to ditch my 360 just because of reliability issues when the turn around time is pretty damn fast.

It's just that simple.

I got a RROD after two years and Microsoft sent me a refurbished console that didn't work properly. So I sent that back and Microsoft sent me a brand new console that had only been manufactured a couple months ago.
So for the trouble of two trips to the local UPS store and ~3.5 weeks without a 360 (I own two anyways), I got a brand new 360 to replace my 2+ year old one.
Great deal.

1. How many times have u gotten RROD?
-One RROD over 4+ console-years (two consoles).

2. Did u get rid of your 360 cause of RROD and if so what system did u buy to replace it?
-No, I got it replaced with a free brand new 360.

3. If you did get RROD do u plan on getting the next xbox?
-Of course, I'll probably get two again as long as the price is right and the games are good.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

What's an honest question as opposed to a regular question?

No RROD here.

The intent I am guessing.

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

For the same reason I shelled out from my pocket the ps2 repairs Sony rejected to cover.

The games, delivereth!

ps: I never got a RROD, the disc drive crapped itself twice.
