I dont mind it really as it normally means the difference between a game with replayability factor and a game that will never get touched again as online modes have very little interest for me personally.
Max Payne series is a classic example of that type of game for me - wherever you saved is exactly where you start if you die or reload and between them and because of this i have completed either number one or two about 30 times or so.
This remains one of my favourite series to date.
