Forums - Sony - I don't like where this leads

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/premium-ps3-themes-available-starting-tomorrow/

Am I too used to Microsoft's nickel and diming and over-reacting here, or is this a bad trendsetter for Sony?  They do say that there will be free themes still too, but I iwsh they would just give away the good ones.  It's not like it costs much to create them and they are essentially ads anyway in many ways.

I always thought gamerpics and themes for 360 for new and upcoming games would be cheap easy ways for devs and publishers to reach gamers and they should be free.  Now Sony's following suit, sort of.

Thoughts?

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

What's so bad about it?

1. The majority of popular themes out there are made by users like us. These will always be free.

2. Most of the themes Sony has offered thus far are for upcoming games. These, by and large, will still be free. You think Sony will charge for an Uncharted 2 theme? And, like I said, people can make their own Uncharted 2 themes for free. Or just upload Sony's on a third party site.

I'm not really happy about it, but I usually use custom themes or the standard one, so it doesn't really affect me.  Lately I have just been using Wipeout screen caps with any random theme. That game looks so good.
