I've seen the video of the prototype N64 FF game. It wasn't FF7, it was using FF6 character. And it looked alot better than the character models used in FF7. Check youtube for it, you might see it there.

I believe FF7 could have easily fit on an N64 cartridge if you took out all the FMV.

If you're talking about this, it was just a tech demo in the same way the FFVII tech demo was done for the PS3 that everyone went crazy for. It was never meant to be anything more than that.

Do you really believe that though? You think that Square would do a tech demo for a system that they would never ever program a single game for? They said it was a tech demo later because they changed platforms. There si an October issue of GI which  I still have that said they were showing the actual game to them. A few months later it went PS1 and never looked back.

I do honestly believe that. Things change quite often and projects get canceled even more often.

That wasn't an actual game either, it was a tech demo. It had what looked like a Dragon Quest enemy, FFVI music, and FFVI characters. They were just showing what they could do. I'm sure there were games in the making, but that was not it and that was not indicative of what the final game would look like.

Nintendo and Square had a MASSIVE falling out just during the production of FFVII (resulting in an abnormally long project time for it). Why this is baffling people so much is beyond me.

Square like to make CGI and FMV heavy games which is fine with me because of the amount of detail they put in they really care about the game they are making and that is why production times are so long for FF and DQ games. FF:CC for Gamecube wasnt a proper FF game it was more a of a tester type game it was good but it just didnt feel like Square cared that much about it it was abit short and the world was far to small each area was quite big though.I think FFXIII,FFXIV,FFXV and so on will stay on PS3 and a spin-off might be on 360 like FFXI was which was online based so they wanted to use Live.The Wii will have the Crystal Chronicles,The PS3 will have the main ones and the 360 will be lucky to get any.DS and PSP just get spinoffs or remakes which are being churned out by SquareEnix.DQ will stay with DS and Wii and the odd spinoff might go to PS3 or 360 but i think thats the last of console DQ games.Square has games on every console out and it pays for them so they have no reason to make anything multiplatform all they do is make a game for the Wii and DS inless than a year and a ton of money will come in and they only have to make it half decent and it will still get good reviews.

End of 2014 Hardware Predictions (03/03/14)

PlayStation 4: 12-15million

Xbox One: 7-10 million

Wii U: 8-9 million (Changed 01/04/2014 from 7-9 --> 8-9 million)

Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles is made by a joint production studio of Nintendo and Square that was formed at the end of Yamauchi's reign at Nintendo and funded through Fund Q; it could be argued that Square agreed to this because they knew Yamauchi was stepping down and Iwata was his replacement. One of the stated goals of the project was for Nintendo to demonstrate how you can create high quality games at a far lower cost. Ultimately, what makes a large portion of Square games really expensive is exactly what people look for in a Squaresoft game (large pre-rendered movie sequences) ...

How Square is going to react towards this generation is going to be interesting to see ... I expect that they are probably very pleased with the sales of Dragon Quest Swords and that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles may see similar sales which would mean that Square would (probably) end up heavily supporting the Wii; we will have to wait to see whether they release their existing IPs (Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts or Dragon Quest) on the Wii or create new IPs.

I think they would make a new IP for the Wii that cant be done on any other console because it relays on the Wiimote that heavily and then make a spinoff for the DS and then Nintendo get their share of SquareEnix and so does Sony and MS has to go home with nothing except the MULTIPLATFORM title The Last Remnant.

 exactly there was an actual game and it was at the time of the falling out about 33% complete it was in several big mags, egm, game informer, etc etc. the screenies u see was actual game not a "tech" demo square wanted sony fans to think it was. cause if they knew there was an actual amount of game to it when scrapped and redone no sony fan wouldve wanted it so they came up with the "tech demo" line. so far all weve seen for the ps3 is a "tech demo" then that could be bad news if the ps3 sales dont pick up in the next 5 months
