Forums - Sony - Poll: Are you going to buy a PSP Lite?

No - do not have the slightest desire to own one. I am very happy with my DS.

I love my psp and why should I need to bay another one? Besides, there is nothing amazing in psp lite.

So how is the emulation scene on the PSP anyway?!? Does it run SNES, GBA, and all that, and does it do it perfectly (i.e. no sound hicups and choppy frame rates). Just curious, maybe I can find some sort of way to excuse the ridiculous load times.

Kinda figured this was big enough news that people wouldn't need one, but here http://kotaku.com/gaming/psp/jack-tretton-on-psp-update-278503.php

Relevant quote: "We increased the internal memory for 32MB to 64MB. From what I understand that makes it concievable for the development community to reduce load times, but there is no game that I can point to and say that effective in September this game will have reduced load times. That technical capability is there but there are no practical applications of that yet, but I do think that will be the end result overtime from what I'm told."

It's not BS, future PSP games will have shorter load times because of this upgrade. How is this BS? They can't go and retroactively change the games released before....

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Hmmm... Actually I have been thinking of getting one, if only to have perfect SNES emulation, since it has only two games which interest me... But it's too expensive. The next portable I'll get will have to be less than 150$ and the possibility to emulate SNES games. So I'll get it when it's less than 150$, and only if Nintendo hasn't released a new portable with the emulation capability by then.

I'll be getting a new PSP this September.

I have a launch PSP right now still with the 1.5 firmware, so I'll get a 4GB Memory Stick Pro and use it exclusively for homebrew and use the new one for games.

Consoles owned: Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PSP, DS, PS3

Probably, I particularly like the fact the RAM is doubled, as browsing was horrible as it kept saying "does not have enough memory".

I have a PSP, but as I only got it in March, I'll get a bit more use out of it, and probs get the new one nxt summer, and give my old one to my brother.

They made it sound like it would improve load times on ALL PSP games. That's all. They should have said "New games can take advantage of this extra RAM to improve load times".
