Forums - Sony - Poll: Are you going to buy a PSP Lite?

I do not have the current PSP but I think I'll pick up this new one...the faster drive and little bit more life out of the batteries are gtood enough to make me wait for the new one. I was hoping it would have some memory too but PSP is definitly the hand held I will go with. I guess unlike a majority of folks ZI like the idea of console style games on a handheld since I would play it when I am not at home or near a console.

Well, if the load times are reduced significantly, and I mean nearly eliminated....maybe, I really want to play Dracula X.

Tretton said in an interview with Kotaku later that load times of old games (which let me tell you can be horrendous) haven't been reduced at all by the redesign, and there is actually only a CHANCE that future games will have their load times reduced.  In other words; that part of the conference was complete BS.

I probably will get one ... sooner or later. For now, I can just leech off a friend who owns a PSP for the games I desperately want to play.

Anyway, the fall is already kind of booked for me, if you know what I mean. Wii360 avalanche!

No, I had originally considered it when the PSP redesign was announced, but they really didn't do anything to improve that I really cared about. If they had only increased the battery life that alone would almost be enough but 3-6 hours is pretty pathetic. If it had more games for me I might also consider the redesign, but there's only 1 game I want for it really (Crush).

Same. However, there are rumors that Crush, or a sequel, will be going multi, so I am just waiting.

I've been waiting for that to come true too, especially the level editor part.

I won't be getting one. I've got my hands full with my DS

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

I sort of noticed that. They upped the RAM from 32MB to 64MB - but unless the code KNOWS to look for more RAM than expected (and its easily addressable) - it won't make any difference.

New games can use the extra RAM - but only as cache (can't rely on it). Can't have games working on the updated PSP, but not the old one... now can we ;)

...

Also surprised by the battery. It actually has the SAME battery life as the old model - but with a lower amphour battery? Not exactly sure what the point is - but they can upgrade the battery later.

Kinda figured this was big enough news that people wouldn't need one, but here http://kotaku.com/gaming/psp/jack-tretton-on-psp-update-278503.php

Relevant quote: "We increased the internal memory for 32MB to 64MB.  From what I understand that makes it concievable for the development community to reduce load times, but there is no game that I can point to and say that effective in September this game will have reduced load times.  That technical capability is there but there are no practical applications of that yet, but I do think that will be the end result overtime from what I'm told."

I' m definitely going to be getting a new one, and I will be selling my old PSP and case. I just really want the video output so that I can watch stuff from my PS3 hard drive anywhere where there is wi-fi, on a large screen. However, I'm not so sure that the resolution of the games will be particually good on a large screen.

I haven't decided which pack to get, but I will wait till the details are announced for the European launch
