Tretton said in an interview with Kotaku later that load times of old games (which let me tell you can be horrendous) haven't been reduced at all by the redesign, and there is actually only a CHANCE that future games will have their load times reduced. In other words; that part of the conference was complete BS. |
I sort of noticed that. They upped the RAM from 32MB to 64MB - but unless the code KNOWS to look for more RAM than expected (and its easily addressable) - it won't make any difference.
New games can use the extra RAM - but only as cache (can't rely on it). Can't have games working on the updated PSP, but not the old one... now can we ;)

Also surprised by the battery. It actually has the SAME battery life as the old model - but with a lower amphour battery? Not exactly sure what the point is - but they can upgrade the battery later.
