You guys do realize that at later stages of development you need a LOT more people to work on a big game than early on, right? This isn't really abnormal for the gaming business. Square used to do the exact same thing every time they finished a FF except the numbers of employees were in the hundreds and they typically got hired back on for the next project once it got big enough. Really, unless the game beat out expectations noticeably they would have laid people off simply because tehre's nothing for them to do right now.
