Forums - Gaming - It's official : they killed DBZ

UGH! I was willing to give this the benefit of the doubt, but this doesn't look much better tan the other live action Dragonball movie:

which unfortunately looks truer to the spirit of the original

Yeah it looks really terrible. As a fan who owns the complete collection of DB, DBZ and DBGT this just annoys me. I saw nothing good in that teaser. Maybe they'll get it right in a remake in ten years. All this waiting for a movie to be made and this is what I get. The rumor about fox and a new dbz tv series has tipped the scale for anticipation and skepticism in favor of skepticism.

omg how have they ucked this up first of all master roshi should be more of perve and should have a turtle shell on his back, secondly bulma is using guns wtf, bulma through out the whole of drqagonall never ever though she just let goku and the others do the fighting while she was cowaring in the corner, next where the hell is krillin they put yamcha in above gokus best friend krillin so bizzare, and now heres the worst part piccolo hes not even green, doesnt have his cool cape on so this is really dissapointing, and this movie by the looks of it will be missing the the super fast combat, the combat just looks to realistic from the trailer

Yea this one is actually funny.  They couldn't get the license for the movie, so the characters are monkey boy, turtle man and purple hair girl or something like that for Bulma.

How could they not get the liscense for Goku?

The rest i understand, but Goku as a monkey guy with an extendable pole that rides a cloud totally isn't a Dragon Ball Z original.

Besides the actors looking absolutely nothing like the cartoon characters (Piccolo is German?) and the fact that the fighting is nothing like what was seen in the series, what's so bad about it? Looks like...stupid fun.

 AND THE CHICKS ARE HOT!

Agreed, the only thing it has in common with the original.

Although I didn't like very much the various Dragon Balls, just like I didn't like very much Star Trek (yep, virtually stone me to death ), this is way below any expectation, this movie is to DB like Deep Cack Poo was to Star Trek!!!

Edit.  @spdk1: now, THIS is a DB movie!!!

Actually the thai dragon ball was quite etertaining after a few drinks. This one on the other hand based on the trailer looks like its going to be pretty serious. At the moment this movie looks like it will kill my inner child more than Streetfighter with Van Damne did. I find it hard to believe Stephen Chow is directing this, it seems too serious. This is the guy that inadvertantly pioneered spoof movie genre in Hong Kong.

Wait.

How was this in any way DBZ?

I think Stephen Chow is just a producer on this.  I don't think he is directing.

@untouch:  This isn't DBZ its Dragonball.  There's a difference.

@kasz:  Yea I don't know how they didn't get the license.  It was pretty low budget and they might not of wanted to pay for it I guess.
