Forums - General - Vista Ultimate Extras + DreamScene = Awesome...

Lol, does anyone have Vista Ultimate? I got it for a discount prices from Microsoft's discount site for college students, entitled "The Ultimate Steal." After some hardships with upgrading for 3 weeks (lasted that long due to homework and school). Well, The Ultimate Steal website (search Microsoft's website for The Ultimate Steal; you have to give Microsoft your college email address ending in .edu to access their store) has Vista Ultimate UPGRADE w/SP1 32/64-bit for $64.95 (reg. $214.95), Office Ultimate 2007 for $54.95 (reg. $600~) and Language Packs $9.95 (reg. $24.95 each).

Well, Vista Ultimate is okay at first, but it has better security updates (don't know what for, but meh), but the best part of all is the Ultimate Extras. Well, some seem a bit bogus, but then there is the DreamScene Ultimate Extra. It's really neat. You can use either a .mpeg or .wmv video as your desktop's background. Yes, a video as a desktop background. Tried using some Playboy DVDs I got from my girlfriend, Spencer, and ripped them onto my computer. It's pretty nice. Now I have ripped some concert DVDs onto my computer and have one video at a time as my background.

You have to have at least 2 GBs of RAM to use Ultimate, and a good graphics card. I have an Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS (I want to get this better laptop I saw at Best Buy that has a Blu-Ray player and an Nvidia GeForce 9200M GTS; F U PS3 lmao ). I just wanted to know if anyone else has Ultimate.

Around the Network

I have it. Just blew it away and reinstalled XP. I could not get it to upgrade with SP1. I then got a copy with SP1 in it, and it would not boot after I installed the ATI drivers. It gave me a CRCDISK driver error.

What a piece of shit. I am happy with XP. Good thing MS extended support another 6 months :)

8600M GS >>>>>>>>>> 9200M GTS because a 9300M GS is a rebranded 8400M GS and a 9200M will be worse - I'd imagine equivalent to an 8300M  which would be about a quarter of the speed of an 8600M.

I don't like people being taken in by Nvidia's rebranding and number inflation policies.

I have Vista Ultimate.

Seems ok.

If you want animated wallpaper without Vista Ultimate you can google for a torrent to enable it in other versions or just use VLC(right click on video while playing and choose wallpaper). The VLC option gives you sound as well and works in XP.
