What do you rekon? personally i believe its a big bunch of BS but i dunno.

Whats your opinion?

Your right $100 price cut would make sale go crazy lets see this weeks sales to see what happens, maybe there are shortages.
Notice Sony Sells better everywhere else but the U.S even with higher price tag.
I think its is the Economey.

Same here man, its the high price of the thing thats its problem. Just look in Australia, it costs $688 - $700 and you can get a 360 for $328 at big w (was in the store today.) and the ps3 is selling within 500 units of the 360 every week in australia.... my point is, imagine if the Ps3 was $328, it would be selling like hotcakes...
ps. how could they be having shortages? its not like the ps3s are selling rapidly like the wii.

They said they were meeting 80-90% of supply. That's not much of a shortage...
I'm not sure they'll really want to drop the price yet.
They're already probably losing money on the consoles (in some regions at least), and as Jack Tretton said they're well on target to exceed sales estimates for the console, so sales aren't that bad.
If they exceed the target by too much they'll obviously run the risk of shortages.
Of course, everything JackeyT says has to be taken with a pinch of salt...or five...
But who knows, I'm definately no market analyist so it could just be an excuse.

They also said they are 'on target' for their yearly prediction. So, i don't know if it's really bad sales if it's within their own target.
Hmm, pie.

yes but they are losing marketshare to both wii and 360 so a pricecut is needed imo.

He wasn't talking about shortages now, but possible shortages over the holiday season. Quite possible if they had forecast lower sales and set up their production levels accordingly.
