I know this sounds weird considering I had xbox live for almost a year but I tried forge mode for the first time yesterday and it's soooooo fun. I love creating my own maps. And I just realized there are 4 maps the you can download for FREE!

Yea...the first map pack became free when the second one came out and then there is the free map from bungie day. You are weird for not trying out forge sooner. I was using it like a week into owning the game.
