Forums - Microsoft - MS taking a new direction.

These parts...

"Unlike Sony and Nintendo, MS doesn’t have many first party studios..."

"This means that instead of going the acquisition route and acquiring big name firms they have instead hired in talented staff..."

Makes sense so far, but...

"This is what I feel MS advantage is, a team based structure...."

...and...

"...but as a 'hardcore' gamer, I cannot see anything that excites me more then something like this..."

So shouldn't the article writer "cannot see anything that excites" him more that Nintendo and SONY 1st/2nd party offerings arleady???

I'm guessing he's referring to having a high-talent leadership team, not a high-talent development team from top-to-bottom.

Building your own 1st party titles means having all of the latter.

Around the Network

Nevermind.  Having serious browers problems.  :)

EDIT: I was going to say that please don't get me wrong because I think 1st party games are VERY important.  I just find that the OP (what was posted) was rather ironic.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

I agree with OP and stickball assessment that is what MS is doing. Instead of having several 1st party studio , they are going Nintendo route and consolidate all development under one roof. This make for lower overhead cost , streamline development tools and consolidate any redundancy.

They probably learn their lesson from having Bungie want to be on their own etc and figure why not just hire talent instead of buy company where people (talents behind such company) usually leave anyway.
