Forums - General - Palin: the great debater?

Yes, there is a difference between an interview and a debate, but they both involve answering questions, which Palin isn't good at. She's good at reading a teleprompter at the RNC, but her speech was all buzzwords, attacks on Obama, attacks on the media, and buzzwords.

She has totally fucked up every interview she's ever had. I'm not counting the Hannity piece, since he shoved his entire head up her ass before it was finished.

I think she is going to do absolutely fantastic in the debate. Everyone should set their expectations really high, as I have.

Biden will choke on his foot, and Palin will dance on his body.

(See, I still gotsit.)

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Hey at least the left finally settled on something to smear her over. You'd think when you ignore facts like they did on all the made-up scandals you wouldn't need a dozen tries before you settle on a smear angle.

And remember folks, Alaskans are too stupid to know the difference between 2 years of effective governing and a complete moron running their state. In fact they've confused one for the other! So just ignore what they think, because cherry picked examples from people who want to dislike her take precedence over the opinions of voters who actually live under her administration....and don't you forget it!

To Each Man, Responsibility

sqrl: Was that for or against her?

Everyone: Despite the fact that her own words literally make up the bulk of the her SNL sketches, I think she is going to be a really powerful debater.

Set those expectations high people! She is going to rock it.

Why so defensive? This is not smearing, just pointing out how ridiculously she talks about the important issues.

The "alaskans like her" defense is not very good... No one is saying she's a complete moron, just that she lacks the substance needed to be president. I haven't yet seen a single clip which shows she understands the important issues.

She spews stupid statements about the economy, energy (even though McCain says she's the top energy expert in America), foreign policy... Those are the subjects that count for this presidency, not whether she can make Alaskans happy or not.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

If you're having trouble understanding Palin's answer in the first video, here is a diagram:

I have 2 words for this thread. Dan Quayle.

This is proof that the VP can be dumb as an ox and not really have any impact one way or another, its only when they are evil to the core (Dick Cheney) that there can be problems.

Also, think of the chain of command on the other side - If Obama is president and disappears JFK style, then there's Biden, who is also another old guy. If he keels off, who's that leave? Pelosi? Another female with little clue or experience for the position of Chief in Command.

And like it or not, the chances of Obama being the next JFK are high. There's still a lot of crazy, racist people in this country. Hell, the South is still fighting the civil war, or as they teach it - "The War of Northern Aggression"

The chances of Obama being assasinated (extremely low in itself, no matter that there are still racists assasinations just don't happen that often) and then Biden dieing are far far lower than that of McCain alone croaking it. And you would still be left with a more competent president than Palin looks like she would be, though I'm no big fan of Pelosi.

Also I agree with you that the VP doesn't really matter, I just worry about Palin getting her hands on the oval office - that woman actually scares me.

It's not a smear if it's true. I can't speak for the made up scandal people, but as far as these interviews with Katie Couric go, it has become crystal clear that she does not know a lot about what's going on in the world.

I'm not arguing that she's stupid, because she's not! She knows how to throw her weight around in just the right way, and when reading from a teleprompter, she can really rile people up and get them excited. I'm arguing that in those interviews, she comes off as a high school kid who spent all night cramming for a civics exam and then almost shat herself when she found out it was a 5 page essay, throwing out as many key-terms and fluff as she possibly can to fill up that space.

Sarah Palin is not stupid, she's just the next puppet in line. I want to like her. I want to believe that if McCain gets elected, that she'll be an effective and knowledgeable VP. Unfortunately, all of the direct evidence (her interviews, GOP not letting her off the leash) points to the fact that she, quite simply, is not qualified for this position.
