Forums - PC - Why do I have to shutdown Windows Vista twice?

I'd insert here some witty retort to recommend you switch to a proper OS (either linux or macosx) but I'm feeling lazy today T_T

And I'd reply with some witty line telling you to put your suspenders on, comb over that hair because ponytails just don't look right when people can see your bald spot, and give your mom a kiss for me on your way down to your basement apartment.

Man I'm glad we're both lazy.

sorry, i forgot that you were using a laptop.
go to power options in control panel.
then click on "choose what power buttons do"
your settings for power and battery are probably messed up as well. Set them to shut down in any applicable area.

if that doesn't work, THEN dl the mobo BIOS. do the easier thing first :P.

That seemed to do the trick, thanks!

Awww, that bitterness =)

Something not working in your life? Maybe... your OS? =D

Anyways, I'm glad you got it fixed.

Know plenty of Linux dorks who all fit at least one of the typical stereotypes who try to tell me all the time why I shouldn't use Windows (and I have tried Linux Red Hat I believe, didn't like it).  It gets old.

As for this problem, it's nothing huge it just bothers me I have no idea why it was happening.  I would have never thought it would be in the power options.  That's just completely backwards to me.  I don't really have a problem with Windows (XP at least).

Hmm..Doesnt Google help you?

I did a quick search but didn't see anything too useful so since I wasn't in a hurry to fix the problem I just asked here since I figured some smart/clever people browse here. I was mainly just interested in why it was happening because I couldn't see any updates it was doing.

laptops for some reason have a lotta stuff that doesn't make sense.

Hmm I have laptop and when I downloaded Vista update my network didint work...Had to delete...
Well if it really problems you you could try to reinstall Vista or try Linux or something..

Yeah I have a similar problem that when Vista goes to sleep it constantly comes out of sleep by itself. I've done some Google searches and most say to turn off the waking ability of the network card, but that failed to work. I've tried those Power Settings too. It's not too big of a deal (I just don't use sleep anymore), but it's kinda annoying to think about.

You are using Vista. That's like asking for problems. MS has difficulties getting their software right until the second revision is released, and that tends to be after the first revision makes it more broken.

You do not have the right to never be offended.
