There is no doubt in my mind that October is the biggest month of 2008 for the industry. There are almost too many titles to name. There has also just recently been a cut to 360 prices, with plans for a new PS3 sku (the best without BC so far) to drop late in October. All of this just leading up to the release of Gears and R2 early next month.

What are you planning to buy/rent? How much is it going to set you back?

For Me:

Just bought a 360 Arcade ($199)

Dead Space ($10 rental)

Saints Row 2 ($10 rental)

SOCOM: Confrontation ($59.99 first day buy)

Far Cry 2 ($10 rental)

Little Big Planet ($59.99 first day buy)

Guitar Hero: World Tour ($189)

Fallout 3 ($10 rental)

Motorstorm: Pacific Rift ($10 rental)

Fable 2 ($10 rental).

$570 Dollars in total; $120 of which will be first day buys and $199 of which I have already spent.

Next month I am buying: Motorstorm 2, LBP, SOCOM, Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3, should come to £175 in total. Then again, it is my birthday next month which will relieve some of the financial strain.

Looking to pick up the Rock Band 2 Bundle, and Fable 2. Dead Space (Rental) as well as give Far Cry 2 (Rental) and Fallout 3 (Rental) a try. You are right though, between Oct-Nov Console releases I am also picking up the WOTLK expansion, and Gears 2. I think my wife is going to divorce me, XD.

October is going to be nuts! Just look at the weekend of the 21st alone.

Nice list. I'm going to be renting pretty much all of those games too. Way too many games this month to buy at $60 a pop!! This is exactly why game company's should consistently release games all year round instead of mainly the holidays. Many good games get over looked in the flood of big blockbusters.

@perpride - Now did you buy the 360 just for Fable 2 and Gears of War 2 or are you going to get other games?
I was thinking about getting a 360 for those 2 games, but I'm not sure its enough to justify the purchase. Maybe with Left 4 Dead also.

LBP and Socom (for the headset) are first day buys for me too. R2 is a first day buy in Nov, but the rest this year I would like to rent and make sure its worth buying. Games with large multi-player online have a much greater chance of me buying for added re-playability w/ friends. Fallout 3 is also a consideration with its large single player scope, perhaps too long for a rental. I'm even considering guitar hero world tour. It would be my first time buying a guitar hero/rock band game, but I've played them before and enjoyed it.

Also, if a game I rent is excellent I may feel obligated to buy it just to have in my games collection and to show my support to the developers for a possible sequel. As long as I don't buy it used from gamestop >

Actually, this will be my second 360. I modded my first one and got the RROD back in early March. I am not just grabbing it for the two games that you named (Fable is a rental for me), but I will def. admit that Gears of War 2 is the only reason I did not wait any longer. It is like the Metal Gear of Xbox 360.

It looks so EPIC!! Just found out that it only has 2 player co-op through story mode though.... Oh well, guess I'll just have to play thru it more times to include all my friends.

Youch man $10 for a rental thats a bit steep.

Fable, Fallout, and Gears are all buys for me. I'm borderline on Far Cry, Dead Space, and Mirors Edge I'll wait on reviews to see how long they are. If I can't beat 'em in a week I'll probably buy them as well.
