Forums - General - So who won the debate?

From what I'm hearing, I did. I rock.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

I think that Obama took Part 1 by an inch, he had a really good open. And he played his robin hood ideas well (take from rich give to poor.. blah blah blah).

McCain slayed him on the 2nd Part. He kept drawing on his experiance and obama kept going in circle. Kerry tried the eye off the ball thing in 04... did not work to well for him.

HOWEVER. The economy is more imporant right now so I made it a minor win overal for mccain I expect a small bump, but Obama to still have a slight lead. I thought there was a few time McCain could have buried him into the ground but did not.

I also found Obama very annoying. I wish he would just shutup and let McCain finish before he countered. He tried to talk over mccain 2-3 times, I did not recall McCain doing the same. Obama needs to realize it is not a talk show, and you wait for the other person to finish.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

McCain also tried to talk over both Obama and Lehrer.

When Kerry talked about taking your eye off the ball, that was 2004, only 1 year into Iraq, and only 3 years after 9/11. Now it's 2008. We've been failing hard in Iraq for 5 years, and it's been 7 years since 9/11. People aren't afraid anymore. The same argument is strangely a billion times more relevant nowadays.

this analysis said that the sound bites belonged to Obama.
McCain threw a bunch of lies in there and didn't even look at Obama. He looked like he lacked confidence, and honestly looked like a bit of an a-hole snickering the whole time.
I think he won the part about the war, but honestly this election is not about the war it's about the economy.

There was a point when Obama talked over McCain for about 30 seconds.

I really think that if anyone thinks Obama one it was style points. He is better to look at, and such.

Obama was really weak on a lot of answers. He saying what he would do, but did not say how. (both are did that, but Obama was much worse)

I thought McCain did a good job of seperating himself from the Bush administration.

You see, I think 1 week from now the thing people will remember is not who had a better presetation, but who looks more prepared to be Prez. Obama seemed lost on a few issues, especially Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia, and such. Maybe it is just because I come from a military family, but I know what mccain is saying make more SENSE. Now whether Obama can strike an emotional cord with people, or whatever.

On a side note- Did anyone else laugh after mccain told his wrist band story, that Obama's first words were... I have one too... He should have not brought it up... it came across tacky.

McCain by a long shot. The whole last part saw audience approval going red and McCain swayed the independents on some comments. Obama renigged on nuclear, he agreed with McCain on most things, he kept calling him either Tim or Jim, and kept cutting McCain off. McCain called Obama out for what he really his--a Democratic prop.

I cannot believe you just quoted the Huffington Post... That would be like me quoting Rush Limbaugh...

They have 0 cred with anyone besides the FAR left.

@bigjon. did not know that. I thought they brought up some valid points though...

i was wondering the whole time why mccain wasn't looking at obama.
and some of those facts; I KNOW from reality that he was lying.

I don't know, he looked really flustered the whole time, i thought.
Palin didn't even show up. He played the POW card, again.

I think they are spot on. McCain won the part about the war, and Obama won the part about economics. Far left or not, I saw exactly what they saw.

bigjon, btw, even though you back a candidate that you describe as "centrist", you don't seem to be much of a centrist yourself

Although like you , I saw the debate as a tie as well.

McCain won the first part of the debate. Obama, however, won the debate on foreign policy.
