Forums - General - 3 Crazy Theories

Girls are having periods at a much younger age. I know girls who've had their first periods at 8 now. That's gotta be due to our crazy diets. But the meat isn't what makes us live longer. It's killing us and the environment, and wasting clean water and grains that other people can eat and be healthy with.

Hahaha.  Some day, someone will.  I just hope they don't eat it.

(I'm not even a vegetarian, but science is definitely on the vegetarian side.)

Actually, I haven't seen any independant studies which demonstrated any health benefits of having a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle over a well-balanced diet that includes meat. Most of the studies compare unrealistically healthy vegetarian/vegan lifestyles over below average diets.

huh, sorry to go off topic, but, that is crap. There is just as much problems with people tampering with veggies as their are meats.

Plus a true balanced diet needs both.

You don't necessarily need animal products to have a balanced diet, you can get most of the nutrients from meat in nuts and legumes ... But what a lot of (insane) vegetarian activists ignore is that people can (and do) live just as unhealthy lives as vegetarians and vegans as you do as an omnivore.

He probably didn't intend this, but if population keeps growing at a similar rate, we will eventually be unable to produce enough food to feed everyone.  Even now it's a struggle thanks to greed.  However, using non-animal food sources would actually allow us to have 10 times more energy at our disposal than that which would have been gotten out of animals.  That is, of course, thanks to the 10% efficiency rule in nature.

I'm not too sure that is actually a real problem ...

As the Weed-Growers of Alberta have demonstrated time and time again, with enough electricity the ammount of land we have to grow crops is virtually limitless. The problem (at the moment) is that growing crops indoors is very expensive because of how labour intensive it is ... We're very close to solving this problem because robotics are getting better and better at performing these types of tasks.

Spank me if I am solidly proven wrong, but, True Vegans are forced to take vitamins to make up for some things that can ONLY come from meat or animal products. Example, my nutrition class showed us cases where people who decide to be vegan without really looking into it almost go blind.

It seems pretty obvious to me that our bodies are designed to eat a healthy balance of both.

I'm not certain if you have to eat vitamins if you're a vegan but I do think most vegans choose to eat vitimins ...

I do know that you're correct in that a lot of people who decide to become vegans end up having serious health effects because they didn't know how to become a vegan. In ways their attempt at becomming a vegan is similar to "Super Size Me" as an approach to eating a healthy lifestyle that includes junk-food ...
