Forums - PC - Chris Taylor + Fallout devs to make Fallout MMO...

So when does this lead to a retro style Fallout game?

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Wait... I thought they sold the rights to the Fallout name. They just rented it out?

Fallout MMO... on the one hand I LOVE fallout.

On the otherhand I hate MMOs... and one of my favorite parts of fallout was that it was turnbased.

Then again, I do love Fallouts many many choices and actual consequences.

But again... those consequences were real because when you died you had to start over from a save point because there wasn't the "free rez" system MMOs have, letting you keep your loot at a minor EXP penalty. (if that.)

Also the many consequnces lose a lot when it comes to MMOs.

Kill the shopkeeper... and he'll regenerate right back because guys who aren't dicks still need the guy.

Really the style of the original Fallout games would be great for MMOs (although obviously updated visually).  It wouldn't take a whole lot of adjustment to the formula for that to work amazingly well.

Plus, this is the real Fallout devs, not crappy Bethesda.

But it'd have to be real time... which would lead it to something like "Brotherhood of Steel."

(Which granted the original devs didn't make... I think... but still...)

If anyone can pull it off its the fallout developers. If they manage to make an mmorpg that actually has role playing in it (and hopefully lots of branching dialogue) it'll be well ahead of the pack. Hopefully they can keep it turn based aswell, that would be the icing on the cake.
