Forums - Gaming - Which industry should make video games?

Board games, Movies, Animation, Toy companies or Puppets? The reason i ask is because games are becoming more like movies every day and i think movies are a questionable tactic considering the way the film industry has gone recently.

Remember that Sega, Nintendo and many other japanese game developers came from the toy industry, not the film industry. I think there needs to be a debate about this issue.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

The video game industry...

I say high buget from movie industry and smaller more addictive and fun toys. Why not have a balance and open field for all?

Hmm...video game industry should make video games. But they should make more of a mix of video games like games/toys and movies.
